Adriana Kovacheva: Obraz Turka osmańskiego — między mitem, historią a przekładem (na marginesie dwóch powieści historycznych Wery Mutafczijewej) pobierz
Translated Title: Образът на Османеца — между мита, историята и превода (за два исторически романа на Вера Мутафчиева) / Representations of Ottoman Turks — between myth, history and translation (about two historical novels of Vera Mutafchieva). Author Name: Adriana Kovacheva, Uniwersytet Adama Mickiewicza w Poznaniu. Language: Polish. Issue: 2 (1)/2011. Page Range: 61-79.
Summary: This paper raises two main questions. The first one is how to situate the strategy of representation of Ottoman Turks in historical novels of Vera Mutafchieva The Djem Affair and The Last Shishmans in the frames of bulgarian historical and literary context of the ‘60s and ‘70s of the 20th century. It is not possibile to describe this strategy without reference to the impact of folklore and nineteenth century tradition of representing the Muslims and Turks. In this context fields three themes that causes conflicts are distinguished and their interpretation in the translation of the novel could be used as a criterium for the translation’s evaluation. These themes are the notion of East and West, the topic of multiethnicity in Ottoman Empire and bulgarian stereotypes of Turks, Islam and national identity. The second question is how the Polish translator interpreted above mentioned historical novels of Mutafchieva. The analysis of some important details shows that the polish translation of The Djem Affair do not follow original emphases and thus eliminate some local meanings of the novel, which means that it obliterates some of its key conflicts and contradictions.
Adriana Kovacheva: Dora Gabe i Anna Kamieńska — dialogi poetyckie pobierz
Translated Title: Дора Габе и Анна Каменска — поетически диалози / Dora Gabe i Anna Kamienska — poetic dialogues. Author Name: Adriana Kovacheva, Uniwersytet Adama Mickiewicza w Poznaniu. Language: Polish. Issue: 2 (1)/2011. Page Range: 219-233. Ключови думи: Българска поезия, преводaчески стратегии, ресептивни модели, преводачки, gender и превод; Key words: Bulgarian poetry, translation strategies, models of literary reception, women translators, gender and translation.
Summary: In this article poetic dialogues between the women poets and translators are represented as a conversation about the mother who is an inspiration for their artistic creativity. From this point of view the translation practice of Dora Gabe is described as palimpsest, because it gives the opportunity for the language to expand so there is place for another, foreign language in its boundaries. In the process of erasing of the Polish source-text, the Bulgarian target-text is being fulfilled with translators’ creative energies. This translation strategy disrupts the stereotypical reception model of Polish poetry in Bulgaria, popularized by Boian Penev. It overcomes its asymmetrical patterns. Svetla Gurova’s and Blaga Dimitrova’s translations are analyzed as continuation of the palimpsest translation model, introduces by Dora Gabe.
Adriana Kovacheva: Paradoksy antologizacji poezji polskiej w przekładach na język bułgarski pobierz
Summary: This article explores two paradoxes related to the concept of the Anthology of Contemporary Polish Poets that are associated with stereotypes about Polish poetry which exists amongst Bulgarian readers and researchers. The first paradox is related to the establishment of a model of the reader, introduced by Boyan Penev in his anthology from 1921, which limits opportunities for comparative reading of the proposed anthologized material. The second paradox is the discrepancy between the statements made in the introduction to the anthology that the relationships between literary phenomena of the periods before and after the Second World War will be clarified and elaborated and the actual omission of the role of the vanguard in the development of the Polish poetry. This paradox is caused by attempts to impose stereotyped notions of poetics and ideology of the literary avant-garde in the time the anthology was published.
